NEWS Canadian banks onboard with Apple Pay

Canada’s banks have finally struck a deal with Apple to expand use of its mobile payments service in the country.
last year, although it was limited to non-bank issued American Express cards as Apple and the big banks were not able to agree on terms. But it is now branching out to Visa, MasterCard and Interac cardholders, with customers of Royal Bank of Canada, Cibc, ATB Financial and Canadian Tire Bank able to make online and contactless in-store payments with their iPhones and Apple watches. ‘Big five’ members Bank of Montreal, TD Bank and Scotiabank are set to follow suit in the coming months.
