IR UP FRONT It’s a Match! IR
residency slots fill up March 18 was a historic day for interventional radiology: this year’s Match Day was the first time trainees were matched into the new integrated IR residency and 100 percent of the available residency positions were filled. There were at least 135 applicants for the 15 residency positions available at the seven accredited integrated IR residency programs that participated in this year’s match. With more accredited programs coming online, the 2017 Match is anticipated to open significantly more IR residency positions to applicants. SIR advocates for
PAD patients SIR has published a new commentary on the website of the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (JVIR;
jvir.org) outlining key recommendations for the treatment of peripheral artery disease (PAD), particularly the importance of multispecialty collaborations in providing value and evidence-driven care for PAD patients. The commentary will also be published in an upcoming print edition of the journal. The recommendations were developed by SIR and four other medical societies and submitted to a Medicare Evidence Development and Coverage Advisory Committee (MEDCAC) panel exploring PAD treatment. The April issue of Vascular Medicine summarized the recommendations (
