however, shows control is not always straightforward. The Ebola outbreak at the intersection of Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea affected some of the world’s poorest and least developed countries. It took over three months just to confirm that Ebola was the cause of many severe illnesses and untimely deaths and by then large numbers of people were already affected. War, population growth, poverty, and poor health infrastructure likely contributed to the unprecedented expanse, duration, and size of the epidemic.35
