The freeze forecast: live Lake District winter conditions
E
xciting news for Lake District climbers. Following our pilot monitoring project, launched in Cwm Idwal in 2013, the latest system has been installed on Great End, one of the Lake District’s most reliable and well known winter crags. Now you can check accurate information about current and historical temperatures from the comfort of your couch. The probes take hourly readings from depths of 5, 15, and 30cm in the turf, as well as current air temperatures. Winter may be over, but could it help you work out when the crag is dry?
