Airport hotels are more than a convenient stop-over

ILTON pioneered the concept of an airport having a hotel on-site back in 1959 when they opened a 380-room property at San Francisco Airport in the USA. Now-a-days the airport hotel category has grown so large that almost every major airport in the world has an on-site hotel, and even if your hotel isn’t within walking distance of the terminal, transfers to the airport are either prearranged, scheduled through the hotel or available on request.
When it comes to developing a new home in a city centre, so airport hotels provide their operators access to a steadily growing pool of higher-end air travellers.
According to a report from IATA, the annual global air passenger counts will hit 7 billion in 2034.
The report went on the detail how airport cities are springing up, where airports are no longer seen simply as transit hubs, but places for shopping, leisure and business in their own right.
An added bonus is that airport-hotels, and something that is boosting their popularity with travellers, is that they have excellent transport links to major cities due to improved transportation infrastructure. Even airports which are over 20 miles from the nearest city have great rail-links (such as Denver Airport in the USA, which is 23 miles outside of Denver, yet is only 37 minutes away via rail). While an airport-hotel may not have the same buzz as a hotel in the heart of a major city, they have several advantages that make them an excellent option.
Airport hotels are a convenient location to stay the night before an early fl ight, meaning you wake up fresh and well rested (and you get a longer lie in than you would if you had a long way to travel to the airport from home that morning. It makes for a much more relaxing start to your holiday.

1. You don’t have to get up as early The closer you are to the airport, the less time it will take you to get to your gate. So if you’re staying in an airport hotel, which is essentially right next door to the airport—or
maybe even on airport grounds—you’re in luck. Because you get to sleep in more, you will wake up more refreshed, ready for your busy day of travel up ahead.
2. No travel expenses
Maybe you have a free place to stay in the city, or you’ve found a cheaper hotel far away from the airport. Before running to the cheaper deal, consider how much your cab ride will cost you to get the airport in the middle of the night. Public transit won’t be readily available at odd hours so what may seem like a cheaper deal, may actually not be as economical as you think. 3. You can eat a leisurely breakfast
Hotels often have breakfast included—or at least available—on site. But if you’re staying a hotel far from the airport and wake up to catch an early fl ight, you will be too early to catch the breakfast service.
