Installing onshore cables We are proposing to use the same onshore cable route for East Anglia THREE as for East Anglia ONE to minimise potential disruption to local communities and avoid unnecessary disturbance to the environment.


Cable installation


What’s involved? An overview of the installation requirements under each scenario is presented below and a full description of each is presented in the Preliminary Environmental Information Report.

Scenario 1 • The construction/modification of small scale access tracks


• Excavating from ground level to pre-installed ducts


• The construction of jointing pits • Pulling cables through preinstalled ducts • The joining of cables within the jointing pits.


Scenario 2 • The construction of a new temporary haul road along the entire length of the cable route


• The excavation of trenches along the entire length of the cable route


• Horizontal Directional Drilling at eight locations • The construction of jointing pits • The laying of cables and ducts within trenches • The joining of cables within the jointing pits.
