East Anglia THREE Offshore Windfarm

Offshore baseline and initial findings

Coastal processes Chapter 7: Preliminary Environmental Information Report We understand that coastal erosion is a key concern at Bawdsey. For this reason we have committed to installing the cables using Horizontal Directional Drilling techniques, underneath the cliffs.

In general the effects of the proposed project on the marine geology, oceanography and physical processes are predicted to be small scale.

Commercial fishing Chapter 14: Preliminary Environmental Information Report We understand that fishing activity within the offshore windfarm site is predominantly beam trawling, with potting, netting, trawling and

long-lining occurring inshore within the offshore cable corridor.

The impact assessment concluded that there would only be minor impacts to commercial fishing activity within the East Anglia THREE site as, unlike with Dutch and Belgian offshore windfarms, fishing will be allowed within the site once it is operational. The greatest impact is likely to be felt by local East Anglian fishermen working close to the coast, during offshore cable installation. A Commercial Fisheries Working Group has been formed which includes fishermen, East Anglia THREE Limited and fishing authorities to discuss and agree suitable mitigation measures.
