East Anglia THREE Offshore Windfarm Onshore works
To export the power generated by the wind turbines to the national grid, all offshore windfarms have an element of onshore works. The East Anglia THREE Offshore Windfarm would connect to the National Grid via a new converter station adjacent to the existing substation at Bramford, Suffolk. This is the same point as the East Anglia ONE Offshore Windfarm. The location is shown on the map below:
Cable installation To minimise disruption to local communities and reduce environmental impacts, we hope to install ducting for East Anglia THREE at the same time as the cables are laid for East Anglia ONE. The Preliminary Environmental Information Report presents two scenarios:
Onshore cable route and indicative converter station locations
Scenario 1 It is hoped that during the construction of East Anglia ONE ducts will be installed for East Anglia THREE and FOUR. This scenario considers pulling East Anglia THREE cables through these ducts at a later date.
Scenario 2 This scenario presents an option for the installation of four cables for East Anglia THREE in addition to the installation of four ducts for East Anglia FOUR.
