ix weeks after it simultaneously topped the Upfront and Commercial Pop club charts, Calvin Harris & Sam Smith’s Promises returns to both summits.
The track’s dramatic turnaround is the consequence of new mixes by Offaiah, Sonny Fodera, David Guetta, Illyus & Barrientos, Frank Rizardo and Mousse T being serviced to supplement Harris’ originals. The track is Harris’ 17th Upfront No.1 and 19th Commercial Pop No.1, Smith’s second Upfront No.1 and fourth Commercial Pop No.1. Promises is also the longest-running song on the
Upfront Top 40, at nine weeks, replacing Weiss’ Feel My Needs (Turn Around), which exits the Top 40 after a phenomenal 21 week run. It failed to cross over to the Commercial Pop club chart until three weeks ago, but is now on the verge of the Top 10 there, climbing 13-11 this week. Two time MOBO winner Shakka is a singer, producer and songwriter from London - and the resident of the No.1 slot on the Urban club chart for
the fifth time, with his Sugar Cane winning a sweet battle with Rude Kid’s Honey Dew, which dips to No.2 Shakka’s first two No.1s were in supporting roles, contributing vocals to Lethal Bizzle’s 2015 chart-topper Playground and Ghetts’ Know My Ting in 2017, before he topped as a primary artist for the first time with Heart The Weekend last November and returned to the summit with AlunaGeorge collaboration Man Down in April.
