HMTLD are throwing a warehouse party in London on November 23, and they limber up with yet more mutant art rock. Bring disinfectant. Contact Ash Collins

MADISON BEER (FEAT. OFFSET) Hurts Like Hell (First Access)
SORRY Starstruck (Domino)
The best thing about indie rabble Sorry’s new single is the jarring lead guitar, but the pixelated hedonism of the video rules, too. They head out on tour with Shame later this month. Contact Dan Carson

A Charli XCX co-write is rarely a bad thing, and this pitched down new one from Madison Beer achieves bruised perfection. Off set adds extra haziness. Contact Kate Head

THE GOOD, THE BAD & THE QUEEN Gun To The Head (Studio 13)
Sure, Damon Albarn’s vocal lends a certain sadness, but The Good, The Bad & The Queen still sound like they’re having a good knees-up here. Cheers! Contact Brídín Murphy Mitchell

GIG OF THE WEEK ICEAGE Balm Of Gilead (Matador)

12.11 MATTIEL
The Garage London, 7pm
Anyone searching for an autumnal fix of rock‘n’roll should look no further than Mattiel Brown’s show at The Garage. Here in support of this year’s self-titled debut, the Atlanta musician and her band favour rickety, melodic noise.

TASTEMAKERS The industry’s favourite new sounds BIG HEATH – LONELY EP
DJ Semtex, DJ, Capital Xtra
I fi rst saw Big Heath supporting Freddie Gibbs in November 2017. It was at one of those hardcore hip-hop nights at Koko in London where no one cared about the support artist. Heath immediately won the crowd over with his personality and delivered an exemplary set, but what struck me was his clarity, that he was performing to instrumentals, not the vocal versions. I was sold, and I played his debut track Switch Sides on air the following Friday. I was asked to open the main stage at Wireless festival and to give some new acts the chance to shine. I selected AJ &

How much brighter would the world be if everyone were able to cut glistening pop anthems after a break-up? CRJ still excels at doing just that. Contact Stephanie Duncan-Bosu

Deno, EO, Just Banco, and Big Heath.
I put him on fi rst, and he chose to start his set with Lonely, which no one had heard or played. If any other artist had told me that they wanted to start their debut Wireless set with an unheard track on the main stage I really wouldn’t have taken them seriously… But it felt like a good idea because Lonely (from this month’s debut EP) is brilliant and I have faith in Heath. He shut down Wireless. He’s an artist that will be permanently on the road. He has a unique style and, if given the space to develop, he will hold his own corner within UK rap.
