rental procurement through Avis, our employees were renting vehicles from different companies,” she says. “We found that these suppliers were not flexible in their rental periods or transparent in terms of what their rental rates include. “We rarely know in advance precisely how long a rental period might be, because a project can last for anywhere between one and two months, so we needed a provider who could offer that flexibility. We also needed a


wide range of vehicles to be available to us, but also to be able to pick up from, for example, Gatwick and drop off in Edinburgh.” Transparency of additional charges was also a factor in Geometris’ decision to work with Avis. “Smaller, regional providers don’t make it clear whether their rates include cover for some damages or other charges, which can come as a nasty surprise and make it very difficult to achieve clarity in what we are spending, and therefore to manage,” says Martha. “A centralised vehicle rental policy has made things much simpler for us. We deal with one Avis account manager and all the bookings go through a central point. We have flexible rental periods, simple pricing, and clear terms and conditions. Together, this has enabled us to control our vehicle rental costs more effectively,
