Suna Interior Design | RETAILER CASE STUDY

About Suna Interior Design

Steven Pepper is the lead

The use of bold green tiles is reminiscent of the orginal period of the development

designer at Suna Interior Design. Founded in 2001, Suna is an award-winning consultancy

providing interior design services for developers, architects and the hospitality industry on multitudes of projects all over the UK.

THE PROPERTY The development – Lisgar Terrace in West Kensington – commenced in 1927 and had very definite Arts and Crafts influences. Last refurbished in 1971, the development was tired and in need of a refresh. Southern Housing Group (SHG) got planning for a major refurbishment. We were brought in to do the full internal specification for the private sale element of the scheme. SHG was a fantastic client to have – open-minded and willing to be brave.

THE CLIENT

Southern Housing Group (formerly The Samuel Lewis Housing Trust) is one of southern England’s oldest and largest housing associations. Philanthropist Samuel Lewis left a vast sum of money when he died in 1901 to set up a charitable foundation to provide housing for the poor. It provides more than 30,000 homes for more than 77,000 people.

THE BRIEF

The challenge SHG set was to give them an interior design scheme that reflects the heritage and the original nature of the development. This was not luxury housing, so while the selling values of the new private units will be very much in a luxury category by today’s standards, they were originally designed as social housing and the scale of the overall scheme and the internal space planning reflects this.
