Night on Broadway


Need any more convincing that Broadway is back? During this cultural festival, six of Downtown’s historic theaters and movie palaces open their doors to host free performances and installations, while Broadway itself welcomes shopping pop- ups, a family-friendly kids area and a music main stage.

Museums Free-for-All Still have a few L.A. museums


on your cultural to-do list? Check them off during this annual open house. Museums all over the region offer a day of free admission—the perfect opportunity to visit the likes of the Japanese American National Museum, Natural History Museum, LACMA and more. L.A. Art Book Fair Peruse naughty pulp


paperbacks, catalogs full of fancy modern art and other books to top your coffee table at this annual fair. Indie nonprofit Printed Matter has invited more than 250 international presses, booksellers and independent publishers from upwards of 20 countries for this showcase of books, posters and zines. à The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, 152 N Central Ave (212-925-0325, laartbookfair .net). 626 Golden Streets Walk, run, skate, bike and


explore the San Gabriel Valley as Metro presents this car-free event across 18 miles of open streets, including six Gold Line stations and seven SGV cities, from South Pasadena to Azusa. After wildfires delayed last year’s event, the CicLAvia-like fest debuts on the one-year anniversary of the Foothill Gold Line Extension opening with music, art and vendors at nine activity hubs along the multicity route. à Various locations (626-566-8302, 626goldenstreets.com). Bach in the Subways Day Wish Johann Sebastian Bach


a happy 332nd birthday by attending performances of his musical masterpieces at Union Station and across the entire Metro system. What started with a single cellist underneath the streets of New York in 2010 has turned into a worldwide celebration of the German composer, with everything from soloists to full chamber ensembles performing on train platforms.
