SMACKDOWN TIME OUT LOS ANGELES

MAC AND CHEESE

UNSURPRISINGLY, ANGELENOS LOVE a comforting bowl—or seven—of mac and cheese, so on December 4, we challenged some of our favorite restaurants in the city to make their best batch of the stuff and let our readers crown a champ. Contenders the Hudson, BOA Steakhouse, POP Champagne Bar & Restaurant, Little Pine, Max City BBQ, Trencher and Comfort LA all came to win with variations on the classic that included truffles, bacon, hot sauce, and even a gluten free and vegan option, all washed down with beverages from Dark Horse Wine, Angel City Brewery and Rekorderlig Cider. Guests looking for a break from the mac and cheese overload could snack on a delicious brisket and roasted vegetables side dish from GC Marketplace and top things off on sweet note with dessert from Crème Caramel LA. At the end of the day, after 1,000 readers sampled and voted for their favorite mac and cheese, it was time to crown a winner of the smackdown, and BOA Steakhouse’s creamy cooking took home top honors, narrowly edging out Comfort LA’s spicy take on the classic dish. à For tickets to and information about upcoming Time Out Los Angeles events, visit timeout.com/los-angeles/events- calendar.
