Extending pipe to lower diameters
Certification allows pipe to be used at higher pressures
The HexelOne high pressure pipe system from Egeplast has been certified by the DVGW for gas and drinking water applications. The company says this
approval – in high pressure applications – allows users to save cost in two specific ways: the corrosion resistance of the pipes removes the need for cathodic protection; and, modern installation techniques can be used that shorten
ADDITIVES Tagged colorants help to weed out counterfeits
Colour concentrates from Teknor Apex – which contain traces of an anti-coun- terfeit marker or taggant – are helping plastics manufacturers to ensure product safety, supply chain integrity and brand reputation without affecting colour quality or product performance. Used at standard letdown ratios, in a
wide range of thermoplastics, DeTek functional colour concentrates help brand owners protect their businesses by labelling genuine products. Counterfeit versions could damage brand identity by compromising safety, purity, or reliability, says the company.

DeTek concentrates give assurance to many OEMs that use components from multiple contractors for regulated or
high-specification applications. The taggants in products made with
DeTek concentrates respond to special detection equipment but are difficult for fraudulent manufacturers to identify or copy. Teknor Color – part of Teknor Apex –
can carry out an analysis of suspect products, saving customers from the cost of investing in analytical systems. “We can analyse the suspect part or
product using our extensive library of analytical capabilities,” said Jeff Neu- pauer, director of sales at Teknor Color. ❙

construction time and reduce construction costs. It also opens new areas of
use for the pipe, with permis- sible operating pressures of 30 bar for water and 16 bar for gas – which exceeds the range of applications previously covered by polyethylene (PE) pipes. The stability achieved by the HexelOne pipe – with its reinforcement layer of high- strength PE strapping – is twice as high as that provided by
PE100 full-wall pipes, says the company. Thanks to their protective
layer and inner layer made of PE 100-RC, the pipes are suitable for trenchless installation. The DVGW certificate for drinking water covers dimensions from 90 to 125mm.
In addition, HexelOne gas
pipes have been certified for up to 160mm. ❙

Molecor has extended its range of products, with the introduction of a small-diame- ter oriented PVC (PVC-O) pipe. The new pipe, which is 125mm in diameter, adds to its existing range of 500, 630 and 800mm pipe. Molecular orientation
gives its Tom pipe high mechanical and hydraulic characteristics compared to other materials pipelines, says the company. These include: higher hydraulic capacity, enabling larger volumes of water to be conveyed for the same diameter; its lightness, allowing the pipe up to KN250 to be installed without the use of machinery; and, its better resistance to water hammer – due to its lower celerity and its high impact resistance. ❙
