JNC plans to produce its Funcster LFT in China


JNC constructs plant to make LFTs in China


JNC of Japan has formed a company in China to manufac- ture and sell long-glass-fibre- reinforced thermoplastics (LFTs). The new wholly-owned subsidiary is called JNC Polyfine Asia and it is building a 7,000 tonnes/year plant in Changshu, Jiangsu province. The facility is scheduled for completion in September 2012. LFTs produced by JNC are marketed under the Funcster


brand-name. The glass fibre reinforced polypropylene is typically produced with a pellet length of 10 mm. It is mainly used as a metal replacement in automotive applications. JNC currently supplies LFTs


to China from its plant in Japan. However, it says that it now needs local production to meet growing demand from the Chinese automotive industry. ❙ www.jnc-corp.co.jp


Former PolyOne sales rep jailed for embezzlement


A former PolyOne area sales representative based in the Czech Republic has been sentenced to 30 months in prison after admitting to stealing US$2.3 million from the company between June 2009 and June 2011. Lubos Arnold was arrested
