Gicom, stand 35

The phase I tunnels in Rumbeke feature a double plenum that allows several aeration methods to be tested.

Gicom has enjoyed a reputation as a climate control technology specialist for more than 30 years. And deservedly, as in their own words Gicom ‘ engages in a continual process of implementing innovation in ventilation, control and environmental technology for phase I, II, III of compost production and mushroom growing’. In the past months, work has been in progress at the Inagro research station for mushroom growing in Rumbeke, West Flanders, Belgium. The entire climate installation is being modernised and extended. Sales manager Luc Klunder: “This gives research in the mushroom sector another important boost. Gicom is adapting and renewing the system in close cooperation with Destaco bvba. The team is building two completely new phase I tunnels, which are unique in the world. Both tunnels are exceptionally well-insulated and can be heated to replicate practical conditions as closely as possible. They naturally also feature an air scrubber and biofilter. The phase II and III tunnels have been given a complete face-lift, and the growing

rooms have been prepared again for relevant practical research into compost quality.” Klunder explains that growing rooms have also been built specifically for research into pest and diseases, and that research is now possible into the cultivation of other, non-soil-bound protein crops.

“All of this is regulated by the flexible and accurate Gicom climate control systems, which are supremely suitable for growers who want to get more out of the climate. The systems are completely in their element at Inagro.” You are welcome to visit stand 35 for more information about this project or about Gicom Composting, or take a look at www.gicom.nl

Panbo Systems, stand 65

This year Panbo’s climate computer celebrates its tenth birthday, Peggy Huibers of Panbo tells us: “We realized that the climate computer is the heart and soul of every mushroom growing company, but the climate computers available on the market did not meet their requirements. Panbo wanted a computer that was easy to operate, could guarantee service to their users and that would keep up with technological developments and new insights in the production processes. So we created our own system. In the last ten years the Panbo computer evolved into the most advanced and easy to operate computer. Nowadays Panbo’s systems are in operation all over the world without problems in service and maintenance, due to the unique architecture which made the computer extremely stable and accessible via internet. Every computer is personalized. It can be operated in every desired language, and the user can give its own preferences in control, graphics, and visualization. Panbo has systems for the production of substrate, Agaricus, Pleurotus, Eryngii and Shiitake. And is able to write a program for every other kind of production process desired. To celebrate this memorable birthday Panbo opened its own

youtube channel to give online tutorials about the working of the computer and to train growers to improve their production processes. Later this year Panbo will add more instruction videos.” www.panbo.nl
