On trend: Food trucks roll on The food truck boom continues, and several dishes


from roving purveyors stood out this year. We can’t get enough of the kimcheesy rice balls from the Yum Dum Truck (18): arancini packed with cheddar jack, house-made kimchi and jalapeños, and doused with jalapeño sriracha mayo and cilantro. Also try the happy lobster roll from the Happy Lobster (35) and the Margherita pizza from Pizza Boss (49).

40. Biscuit with goat cheese and tomato jam from Biscuit Man at Sidecar at LR


The Biscuit Man is Zeeshan Shah, and he more than earns the moniker with this fluffy number, with tangy goat cheese and sweet tomato jam. 1612 W Irving Park Rd (773-665-4500, longroomchicago.com). $5.


41. Ham and Swiss croissant at Baker and Nosh Set the alarm over the weekend: These flaky croissants, stuffed with Swiss cheese and a thick slice of country ham, are available only on Saturday and Sunday, and, boy, do they go fast. 1303 W Wilson Ave (773-989-7393, bakerandnosh.com). $3.50.


42. Sweet crespelle at Balena


The mascarpone-stuffed crepes are lovely, but the warm roasted grapes and shower of lemon peel take this brunch dish to another level. 1633 N Halsted St (312-867-3888, balenachicago.com). $12.


43. Creole corn bread at Pearl’s Southern Comfort Kick off brunch with fluffy, warm corn bread topped with melted Crystal Hot Sauce–honey-butter for a damn fine Sunday. 5352 N Broadway (773-754-7419, pearlschicago.com). $6.


44. Pork belly Benedict at A10


You may think you know your eggs Benedict. But taste A10’s version, with crumpets, pork belly, tangy Dijon hollandaise and pickles, and realize you’ve been wrong all along. 1462 E 53rd St (773-288-1010, a10hydepark .com). No longer available, but try the corned beef Benedict instead.


45. Hot smoked salmon belly at Ampersand This Ravenswood wine bar is a dream brunch spot for late sleepers. From noon to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday, brunch includes this lovely smoked salmon, served with a tender leek confit, charred green tomato and bearnaise sauce. 4845 N Damen Ave (773-728- 0031, ampersandchicago.com). $14.
