A throwback letterpress stationery store leads the charge of new shops in Chicago this fall.

Steel Petal Press in June after many years of letterpress printing. Her operation in the heart of Logan Square is home to a bevy of great gift ideas, from quirky books and perfect greeting cards to laugh-out-loud socks that she can barely keep on shelves. “After running a successful letterpress stationery
online and wholesale business for years, I decided to open a brick-and-mortar shop in Chicago to be more connected to the community,” says Norwood. “I wanted to keep the printing presses and production room exposed so visitors could see the letterpress process in action and understand the craft and care that goes into making each card by hand.” Norwood moved to Logan Square from San Francisco in 2008 and said she wouldn’t want her shop anywhere other than this creative ’hood.
