Balancing Act: Franklin Alumni Learn Value of Authentic Living

Franklin University alumni have an ability for gaining the edge not only in their professional lives, but in their personal lives as well. As a way to assist our alumni in their pursuit of lifelong learning, the Alumni Engagement team presented the third annual Professional Development Day on Saturday, June 14, 2014 on Main Campus.

Sponsored, for the third consecutive year, by MAPFRE Insurance, the half-day event featured a breakfast and four speakers, sharing their thoughts on the topic of how to keep a work-life balance. The keynote address was delivered by alumni Matina and Michael Zenios. Both of whom run very successful companies in central Ohio (Artina Promotional Products and 3 Pillar Homes, respectively), and like many active young parents, it’s all about managing the business and family calendar.

Dr. John Brent, program chair of Applied Psychology at Franklin University, presented on how to “Live Authentically in a High Speed World.” Dr. Brent’s scholarly overview identified how we become unbalanced in life, while giving theories and tips on how to transition back to a more authentic being. Rounding out the day was Art Krumsee. Krumsee is a mindfulness instructor in central Ohio, who captivated the audience with his techniques and information on how to “stay in the moment.”

The 2015 Alumni Professional Development Day will be held on Saturday, June 13 in Ross Auditorium on Franklin’s Main Campus. This year’s event will feature an introduction to Project Management by Franklin alumnus and PMP certified instructor John Stinnett ‘99. Visit alumni.franklin.edu for more details in the weeks ahead. Registration begins April 27!
