MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT I
t has been another year of growth and advancement at Franklin! Most notably was our acquisition of Urbana University, which compliments and builds upon the history and reputations of both universities. Other expansion within the United States included establishing new co-
locations on the campuses of six additional community colleges across Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Our academic programs have been enhanced with the addition of two new undergraduate majors in Entrepreneurship and Social Sciences, and the opening of our International Institute for Innovative Instruction (i4) marked a new chapter in our global outreach, while our existing international partnerships continued to flourish. Providing easy access to quality education remains a foundational principle of our work.
Franklin continues to be a leader in meeting the needs of individuals seeking a better life in the 21st century. The same is true for our alumni.
As you page through this edition of Clocktower, read how Franklin students and alumni are having a positive impact at home and abroad. You’ll read about Tim Giese who, along with his family, left the comforts of central Ohio to assist the developmentally disabled in Africa. You’ll learn how Jasmine Suarez is paying it forward by mentoring others just as she found guidance in her own life. You’ll hear how Robert Hartman, after surviving a World War II prison camp, made it possible for other current and former service members to receive a Franklin education.
Our school’s namesake, Benjamin Franklin, once said “A man wrapped up in himself makes a very small bundle.” As Franklin University’s president, it is my honor to witness how our alumni throughout the world are reaching out in service to others. All of us associated with this University are proud of the good work being done through the efforts of our alumni and students.
