NEWS INDUSTRY UPDATE

Get Set for Harrogate

Athough summer has only just arrived, we’re already looking

ahead to September and the biggest industry event of the year: The Flooring Show 2015.

Strong exhibitor growth promises a bumper show

With just under three months still to run, The Flooring Show 2015 is powering ahead with confirmed space sales already 5% up on 2014 and with many more bookings in the pipeline. As well as all the core industry trendsetters taking up prominent positions, there will be an expanded presence of British manufacturers showing on the Wool Trends Centre, which features Adams Carpets, Axminster, Brintons, Brockway, Bronte, Cavalier, Ulster and Westex in a smart pavilion promoted by the British Wool Marketing Board and Campaign for Wool.

Houzz to speak at The Flooring Show

Houzz is the world’s leading platform for home renovation and design — and they will be leading design seminars at this year's show!

More than 25million monthly unique users rely on Houzz to find design inspiration, get advice from the largest home community on the web, source products, research and hire home professionals, and manage home projects from start to finish. Over 700,000 active home professionals in more than 60 categories such as architects, interior designers, builders and more, use Houzz to showcase their work, build their brands and reach new clients, both locally and beyond.

The Houzz seminars will take place on Sunday 20 and Monday 21 September at 12:15. More details of the content will be published as the show nears.

The Trends Hub – the ‘Flooring Retail Outlet of Tomorrow’

Over the past two years the Trends Hub at The Flooring Show has become a hugely popular part of the event. This year the theme will be highly relevant to flooring retailers and designers alike. It will be based on a ‘Flooring Retail Outlet of Tomorrow’, designed specifically to reflect the shopping experience desired by consumers when making decisions about their home and how they want it to look.

The Scarlet Opus team – curators of the Flooring Show's Trends Hub for the 3rd consecutive year - spend their days

researching the consumer’s current and future wants, needs and desires from the interiors sector and will use their findings to build a mock-up of a flooring shop designed by the consumer. It’s truly imaginative and perhaps, at odds with what we currently do in the industry – or maybe not?

Is it a flooring shop that would be more attractive to consumers and provide more sales at higher prices for the retailer? Visitors are invited to come and judge for themselves – Scarlet Opus will be on hand to discuss the layout and contents with everyone.

Seminar programme announced

The seminar programme taking place at The Business Enrichment Theatre has now been published online; as an important and much anticipated part of the show, the programme will contain content specially designed to be relevant to flooring retailers, contractors and designers alike.

As well as the Houzz design seminars, Vanessa Brady OBE, Founder of the Society of British and International Design (SBID) will return to the show for what will be a fascinating session called ‘How to sell flooring to interior designers’.

Other topics being covered include future consumers and retailing; how to price your products and win; website building; carpet recycling; social media; flooring visualisation software; interior trends and wool; blogging to increase sales; and flooring design trends for 2016.

The programme is entirely free-to-attend, and full details can be found at the show’s website. Further sessions and speakers will be announced as the show approaches.

Goody Bags from WCFG

The first 2,000 visitors to enter the show will each receive a goody bag courtesy of WCFG (the Wool Carpet Focus Group), which will include various items including a bottle of WOW cleaner. Another good reason to get to the exhibition early!

The Flooring Show 2015 takes place from 20-22 September at Harrogate International Centre. Online registration and accommodation booking is now open now open on the Flooring Show website.
