IN STORE AT PC CARPETS & BEDS Sales Insight

John Richardson, company partner and store manager, gives us a Q&A on sales insights and season predictions.

Who is currently selling the best?

Karndean is just so strong at the moment. It is quite widely available but our customers prefer to come to a reputable company with experience, as it’s not an inexpensive product. We are coming out of a recession so customers don’t want to buy a floor twice, with Karndean they know it’s going to last at least 15-20 years.

Which colours and tetures seem to be

moving at the moment? Our most popular carpet at the moment is Sensation Heathers by Cormar Carpets, it has a really true velvet finish and it’s a great product to handle. We have exclusivity in Preston where we are the only stockists, which means we can offer it to our customers at a better price. As for colours silver tones and birch woods are very much en-vogue.

What are your predictions for net season?

Parquet seems to be very popular right now and I can see that getting stronger. In terms of carpets, I think stripes have had their day but tartans are very much back in especially in subtle and neutral colours. We’re also seeing more call now for Axminsters and heavy patterns, such as florals.

Do you use social media at all?

We are on Facebook and Google+ and we have our own website. We have an SEO expert who does it all, he builds the web pages and runs the online side of the business , handling orders and shipping.

What would you say is the cornerstone of

PC Carpets and Beds’ success? Customer service is at the heart of what we do. We are genuinely interested in giving people what they want and helping people to make the right purchase and achieve their desired results. We don’t have any gimmicks, hidden charges or sales with ‘discounts must end Thursday night’, people are sick of it. We keep it simple do our best give great service.
