TOMORROW’S HEALTH & SAFETY AWARDS 2015

(I)XTREM HONEYWELL SAFETY PRODUCTS

Honeywell designed, tested and developed the (i)XTREM range to provide high performance footwear for those working in extreme conditions.

Key to the (i)XTREM range is a new sole system, which consists of a PU midsole and Nitrile outsole that provide slip, abrasion and cut resistance, in addition to short-term heat resistance up to 300°C. Thanks to this, the footwear lasts longer than average and does not need to be replaced as regularly.

The unique design of the (i)NTELLIGENT wear control system uses coloured wear indicators to flag when tread performance is nearing the end of its life. This assures workers and safety managers that the footwear is still providing adequate protection, and makes sure it’s replaced in a timely manner if not.

An (i)NTEGRATED ankle protection system protects the bone and improves stability in order to help prevent ankle sprains and other injuries when wearers are jumping on and off vehicles or moving objects.

Other features include water-resistant leather, a 200 joule metal-free toe cap, breathable 3D lining and ergonomic collar and added tongue for optimised comfort.

LEV MONITOR TEMPERATURE ELECTRONICS LTD

Temperature Electronics Ltd’s (TEL) local exhaust ventilation (LEV) monitor is a flexible and compliant product, designed to enable employers to provide laboratory and industrial staff with reliably clean air.

TEL’s LEV monitor makes sure that employers comply with legal requirements to guarantee their LEV system always effectively cleans the air to keep workers safe from dust, fumes and other airborne contaminants.

Compatible with any ducting or LEV extraction device, mains or battery powered, and easy to install, TEL’s LEV monitor has been developed in response to growing market demand, identified through the company’s close relationships with fume cupboard manufacturers and users across the world.

One of the main ways LEV systems fail to work effectively is when the airflow rate drops below the minimum safe level. TEL’s LEV monitor features a pressure cell which triggers an audible and visual alarm if airflow begins to fall, alerting operators to potential problems immediately, allowing them to take prompt action to remedy the issue before employee safety is threatened.

TEL solutions aims to deliver energy and cost savings as well as a reduction in carbon emissions. The company offers a full service provision, from design consultation, solution supply and installation, to training and technical backup.
