FLAME RETARDANT CLOTHING ARCO

Arco’s range of FR (flame retardant) garments offers multi- norm protection to those at risk of exposure to heat and flame in the workplace. All products have been designed and developed to excel in the most strenuous of safety tests, including unique garment combination tests that incorporate Thermo Mannequin and Thermal Protection Performance (TTP) testing.

Arco’s product experts have developed a layering system that provides increased levels of protection from heat and flame hazards. The range includes base layer, mid-layer, coveralls and outerwear garments that offer a choice of protection levels designed to suit a range of budgets.

Arco is the first distributor in the industry to test its garment combinations using both Thermo Mannequin and TTP testing. TPP tests measure the time that elapses from when the wearer feels pain to when he or she receives a second degree burn.

These rigorous tests were applied to 45 combinations of fabric used in the manufacture of Arco’s FR garments. The company’s investment in this extensive testing programme helps wearers to identify which combination of garments offers the best protection for their working environment and how protection can be maximised.

FREEDOR FIRECO

Fireco’s Freedor is a unique solution to solve the common problem of fire doors being wedged open, rendering them useless in the event of a fire. Using patented acoustic technology, the Freedor is easily installed at the top of a fire door, enabling the door to be safely kept open. The device continually ‘listens out’ for the sound of a fire alarm and then automatically closes the door, protecting those behind it from the dangerous spread of smoke and fire.

Freedor is a wireless, electrically powered free-swing door closer. The device listens for a fire alarm meeting or exceeding 65dBA. This must sound for longer than 14 seconds in order for the door to automatically close.

The product operates up to power size three (60kg fire door) and takes the weight out of the door, making hefty fire doors easier to open and close. Freedor can be adjusted in terms of closing speed, sensitivity and latching angle. Users can also be assured that the battery life will survive for 12-18 months. For further assurances, Freedor has been designed to comply with BS EN 1154, BS EN 1155 and BS 7273-4 category B.
