WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU COULD GIVE TO
SOMEONE NEW COMING INTO THE PROFESSION? People coming into the profession should be open to new ideas and embrace change.

HEALTH AND SAFETY INDUSTRY? The sector holds constant change and challenges, which hopefully will lead to ever-improving outcomes.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB? My first job was as a
pharmaceutical assistant.
HOW DID YOU GET INTO THE HEALTH AND SAFETY
INDUSTRY? I joined Specsavers over a decade ago, supplying eyecare packages to industry and commerce, one of which being the health and safety sector.

HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH AND
SAFETY INDUSTRY? I would like to see more organisations raising awareness of the importance and benefits of having a robust health and safety within the workplace.
WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO COMBAT NEGATIVE ATTITUDES
TOWARDS HEALTH AND SAFETY? I think is important to gain publicity about some of the positive things that are happening in the industry.

IF YOU COULD HAVE A DINNER PARTY WITH ANY
THREE PEOPLE, DEAD OR ALIVE, WHO WOULD THEY BE AND WHY? Stephen Fry, for his knowledge, and his ability to turn real life into satire.
Sir Chris Hoy to listen to his reasons and inspirations which drove him to achieve a pinnacle position in his chosen career, and Dr Steve Peters, knowing that he would be analysing my performance and feedback recommendations in his gentle and inspirational fashion.

GUIDELINES ON HEALTH AND SAFETY OFFENSES AFFECTING BUSINESSES? We’ll have to see how it plays out as it’s very early days.
