BUCK & HICKMAN TEAM AWARDED IOSH

ACCREDITATION UK distributor of tools, maintenance and health and safety products, Buck & Hickman, has demonstrated commitment to staff training and customer safety by enrolling members of staff on the IOSH- accredited Assessing Hand Protection training course, led by Polyco.

The training programme saw members of the sales team attend the specialist course designed to provide health and safety professionals with the expertise to select the most appropriate hand protection for any given application, navigate the glove selection process and avoid potentially costly mistakes.

In line with PPE directive, EN Standards, and CE marking legislation, the course combined nine sessions of theory with practical group exercises, covering the basic principles and processes, and educating attendees about evaluating and selecting the most appropriate hand protection. Nadine Sherwoord, Product Manager at Buck & Hickman, explained: “We’re committed to ensuring all our team undergo rigorous training and development to ensure they have the expert knowledge to assist our customers and offer the best solution for their application.

“We pride ourselves on offering a diverse selection of top-of-the- range PPE products from leading brands, but as part of our value- added service, our team are trained to have the technical knowledge and experience to best advise our customers on the most appropriate product for their application, and this certification demonstrates our commitment to customer safety.”

Deborah Cooney, National Account Manager of Polyco said: “The feedback from the Buck & Hickman team that attended the course was excellent and they were all very enthusiastic. The training programme is a fantastic way to get individuals who work with health and safety products up-to- speed with the process of glove manufacturing and the latest requirements of hand protection.”

Last year, GOJO launched their GOJO 2020 Sustainable Value Strategies and Goals and this award recognises their performance in waste and recycling operations and sets the bar high within industry.

ACM, a total waste management solutions company, created the Greener Path Awards to celebrate the work businesses across the UK are doing in reducing the impact they have on the environment.

Mike Sullivan, Managing Director from GOJO Industries-Europe said: “This award is a significant accolade for us. It recognises the great efforts we’ve made to redesign our waste and recycling operations and to achieve one of our goals for sustainable value which is to steward a thriving environment. We aim to recover and either reuse or recycle 50% of dispenser materials from the value chain and power our distribution operations by renewable energy.

“The GOJO Purpose, Saving Lives and Making Life Better through Well-Being Solutions, continues to inspire our deep commitment to creating sustainable value – that is social, environmental and economic – for GOJO and our customers, suppliers, staff and the wider GOJO community.”
