WHAT’S NEW? BOILERMAG LAUNCHES CPD COURSE
BoilerMag has launched a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course on best practice for heating system protection aimed at industry professionals including architects, specifiers and building consultants.
As one of the leading manufacturers of commercial and industrial boiler filters, experts at BoilerMag are available to visit your office to deliver the entry level course, which counts towards annual CPD points’ requirements.
ENERGY MANAGEMENT RANGE
CONTINUES TO EXPAND Energy management specialist, Carlo Gavazzi has launched its latest innovative transducers the ET112 and ET340, designed for both single and three phase energy monitoring applications.
Particularly suited for active energy metering and cost allocation in applications up to 100 A for the ET112 and 65A for the ET340 (direct connection), class 1 accuracy with import/export and dual tariff management. The exclusive optical port also allows simple and fast programming of the parameters, variable reading and data logging with the relevant OptoProg optical adapter.
Both the ET112 and ET340 offers outstanding ease of use, fast and simple installation, thanks to the transducer’s self-power supply from the voltage reference inputs, automatic phase detection with wrong-phase-sequence warning and fast application- oriented programming procedure.
Measuring kWh, kvarh imported and exported energy. The transducer is optionally provided with pulse output, RS485 Modbus port and if space is ever a problem then the ET112 is only 2 DIN wide and 3 DIN wide for the 65A ET340.
A selection of variables can be programmed providing for active and reactive energy measurement, options include: system variables such as kW, kvar, kVA, VLL, VLN, PF, Hz, kWdmd, kWdmd peak and hour run as well as phase variables including kW, kvar, kVA, VLL, VLN, A, PF and THD. Energy measurement: kWh and kvarh (imported/ exported); kWh+ by 2 tariffs; and the ET340 has kWh per phase.
Accuracy is ±0.5% RDG (V, A), and the meter is rated Class B (kWh) according to EN50470-3 and Class 1 (kWh) of EN62053-21.
Both The ET112 and ET340 series of energy transducers ensure optimal performance in industries such as conventional energy, building automation, HVAC, industrial automation, plastic & rubber, water treatment and agricultural applications.

The presentation aims to give an explanation of the best practice for heating system protection, including the reasons and causes for protecting a heating system; what methods to use; and what the current regulations are. Sections include; improving heating system efficiency, chemical cleaning and power flushing, and chemical inhibitors. The importance of controlling contamination such as magnetite and scale will be covered, as well as general principles of best practice for heating system protection. The course is approximately one hour in length, with additional time allocated for questions and discussion.
One of the first CPDs delivered by the BoilerMag team took place at Greenway and Partners Ltd, Consulting Engineers based in Leamington Spa. Associate Director Ian Smith said: “The CPD presentation by BoilerMag was very useful and extremely well thought out. As building service engineers we naturally had a lot of technical questions, which were answered comprehensively and in detail. We fully intend to use the BoilerMag XT Industrial filter for future projects.”
Sales and Marketing Director Steve McAllorum said: “With a wealth of knowledge at our fingertips, the BoilerMag team has comprised a comprehensive CPD course that will develop and enhance the knowledge of professionals on the subject of protection for heating systems. Issues such as energy efficiency and public spending budgets need to be considered, therefore it’s important that people have good awareness of the possible solutions. The course is a great opportunity for industry professionals to contribute to annual CPD requirements and take away valuable information delivered by the experts at BoilerMag.”
Following successful completion of the course attendees are presented with a CPD certificate that is recognised industry wide and supported by the CPD certification service.
