10 QUESTIONS

Each month we ask an industry professional the Tomorrow’s FM 10 Questions. This month, we chatted to Scott Dwyer, Key Account Manager from Ideal Response.

Q1

Believe it or not, I was a Chef at Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane, London. I worked as a Chef for two years in one of the busiest and most demanding environments I have experienced, at times, catering for almost 1,000 people.

Q2

HOW DID YOU GET INTO THE FACILITIES

MANAGEMENT INDUSTRY?

My career in Facilities Management began at Lloyds of London where I progressed through a Trainee Management program. Whilst at Lloyds, I was approached to oversee the BT Estate, which had almost 300 properties, including the famous BT Tower. I also played a key role in mobilising BT Leavesden Park (over 175,000 Sq ft), migrating 1,700 personnel from seven separate buildings.

Q4 Q5

WHO, IN ANY OTHER INDUSTRY, DO YOU

MOST ADMIRE?

Jay Abraham, he is an American business executive, conference speaker, and author, known for his work in developing strategies for direct-response marketing. I was privileged to meet him but I am now being coached by him at Ideal Response. He is simply inspiring.

IF MONEY WAS NO OBJECT, WHAT CAR

WOULD YOU BUY? I’d get a Bugatti Veyron, no question!

HOW WOULD YOU IMPROVE THE FACILITIES

MANAGEMENT INDUSTRY?

I would look to find a way to assist Building Property Managers. At times, the pressure placed upon Building Property Managers is just too much.

10 QUESTIONS WITH... Q7

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB?

Q8

WHAT DO YOU DO TO UNWIND?

This isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I enjoy endurance cycling. Having cycled from John O'Groats to Lands End, I enjoy nothing more than being out on the open road.

IF YOU COULD HOST A DINNER

PARTY WITH ANY THREE GUESTS, DEAD OR ALIVE, WITH A FOURTH COOKING AND A FIFTH PROVIDING THE MUSIC, WHO WOULD THEY BE AND WHY?

Q6

WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN

YOU WERE GROWING UP?

I would say I am still growing up! But as a youngster, I always wanted to be a Fireman.

My first guest would be Billy Connolly, he would provide the entertainment and ensure all the guests have plenty to laugh about. My second guest would be Anthony Hopkins, he’s an actor I admire a great deal and would be extremely interesting to talk to, in my opinion. My 3rd guest would be Dwayne the Rock Johnson (I’m a big WWF fan). Gordon Ramsey would be my choice of chef for the evening and Coldplay would be my preferred choice of band.

Q9

WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE

FUTURE OF THE FACILITIES MANAGEMENT INDUSTRY?

To continue delivering on an outstanding service with a great supply chain.

Q10

JOHN FATHERS, CEO OF GREEN WORLD

INNOVATIONS LTD ASKED: IF YOU WERE PRIME MINISTER FOR THE DAY WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE AND WHY?

I would like to do more with UK-based charities, supporting the smaller charities, such as the East Anglian Children’s Hospice, which I whole heartedly support.
