AlArMCAlM Advanced
AlarmCalm is the false alarm management (FAM) solution from global fire systems business, Advanced. Its growing reputation as the best-in-class solution is seeing it specified and installed in care homes across Europe, where it is drastically reducing the scourge of false alarms on owners, staff and residents alike.
Available as free software on Advanced fire systems, AlarmCalm allows a site to be divided into false alarm management zones called building areas (up to 200 per panel or 40,000 per network). These are virtual areas used for FAM programming that by default match fire zones but can be set independently to cover multiple zones and points or individual points.
The use of building areas makes even complicated cause-and-effect easy to set up and the system impacts both verification times and investigation delays to outputs. The false alarm programming can be managed down to point detector level, or more likely by room type and even the specific needs of the users in that room or area. Not only does this level of control reduce false alarms it can build in more fail safes and time for safe evacuations to be conducted.
Advanced has also developed an optional intelligent loop device for alarm acknowledgement, the AlarmCalm Button. This can be used by trained residents or staff to manually verify if an alarm signal is false, for example from cooking smoke or bathroom steam in a care home apartment, giving a little extra time for the signal to clear and resetting the system or evacuating the site.
