A recent contract with Beijing Airport highlights the importance of this process. As the second busiest airport in the world, Beijing Airport Management requires efficient matting to maintain cleanliness in the building and prevent the risk of slips and falls on their hard floors. The OBEX®
matting system was
specified and installed, but after a period of time, the matting began to look dirty – showing that it is clearly doing its job!
After a site evaluation and meeting with the management, it was found that, except for a daily vacuum, the airport staff never used a hot water extraction machine to clean the matting areas. A deep clean was then carried out, and the process of water mixed with detergent penetrated the textile, catching the soiling before being immediately extracted. This left minimum moisture that will quickly dry out, thanks to the open construction of the OBEX®
patented tile, and the matting looked as good as new.
Milliken therefore recommends regular vacuuming and periodic deep cleaning, to ensure that textile performance is maintained and product durability is secured. They offer a five year wear guarantee on the OBEX® matting system, providing that regular maintenance is performed.
