Hello there,
This month has been an eventful one in the care industry, with the publication of the dementia atlas, which illustrated the variations in dementia care across England; the government’s commitment to improving end of life care by 2020; and the CQC’s publication of a best practice guide for care homes closures.
In our August/September edition we have done our best to bring you all of this, and more, including a look at one of the 14 multispecialty community provider vanguards, set up by NHS England, to relocate and improve care quality. We find out more about Sunderland’s All Together Better initiative, which aims to improve care in the city by reducing illness, as well as lessening the number of hospitals admissions for those that do become unwell.
Our Furniture & Interiors section features expert comment and advice from industry experts, including eye-opening pieces about the importance of nostalgic design, and the impact it can have on resident’s wellbeing.

Elsewhere, we hear from adult social care charity Making Space, about how listening to service users has turned the charity’s approach to staff training on its head. We also find out more about the Flood Re scheme, how it doesn’t apply to commercial properties and what care providers can do to keep their residents safe in the case of a flood.
Also, don’t forget to check out the Care & Dementia Show 2016 Preview in our general features section, for all the latest information about the event!
We really hope you enjoy our latest issue! Happy reading.
