NEWS SpaceVac Reach New Heights With Environmental Award

SpaceVac Technologies Ltd has won a Green Apple Environment Award in the national campaign to find Britain’s greenest companies, councils and communities.

SpaceVac competed against more than 500 other nominations and has been presented with its Green Apple Award at a ceremony in the Houses of Parliament.

As a result of this success it will have its winning paper published in The Green Book, the leading international reference work on environmental best practice, so that others around the world can follow its example and learn from SpaceVac’s experience.

It is now being considered to represent the UK in the European Business Awards for the Environment.

The Green Apple Awards began in 1994 and have become established

as the country’s major recognition for environmental endeavour among companies, councils, communities and countries.

The awards are organised by The Green Organisation, an independent, non-political, non-activist, non- profit environment group dedicated to recognising and promoting environmental best practice.

Judges for the Green Apple Awards are drawn from the Environment Agency, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, the Chartered Institution for Wastes Management and other independent bodies.

It seems the cleaning industry has reached a tipping point, according to Templa CMS. The company has recently introduced a new, mobile-based auditing system in an attempt to keep up to date with the ever increasing technological advancements, speeding up the shift from old-fashioned systems.

The Templa CMS Service Point allows contractors to deliver improved client service, with minimal implementation time and cost. Templa say the simplicity in this system stems from the fact that comparatively little client data needs to be uploaded to support the fairly straightforward business functions.

Rick Stoor, Managing Director at Templa, said: “Our contract cleaning clients have been telling us it is no longer acceptable to carry out site audits using paper-based systems or standalone quality audit apps that can’t report through to other functions.

“It goes without saying that the spread of mobile devices in cleaning has accelerated the move away from old-fashioned auditing systems, with many contractors now equipping their operations staff with tablet technology. When integrated with

centralised back-office software, the ability to share quality KPIs with clients, along with other contract data, via a web portal now adds an extra dimension to client service.”

Using Service Point, contractors can easily configure audits to their client’s premises type, and using the Quality Audit feature, they can load the agreed schedule of audits to the back- office software, which then sends requests to their operations manager when each audit is due. Managers can then complete the audit on their mobile device and the KPI results, along with any other contract data the company chooses to share, is made available to clients via a secure Client Portal on the contractor’s website.

Quality audit results automatically feed through any required corrective action into the Help Desk, which also handles requests or queries telephoned or emailed to the contractor by clients. In line with the contractor’s own quality process, action requests can be automatically disseminated to admin and operations staff, with full tracking through to resolution. Service level agreement statistics are available for additional KPI reporting.

Using existing client, site and contract data, Service Point is straightforward to configure, and Britannia Group and Maxim FM are two companies who have already latched on to the client service benefits of the system. Rick Stoor added: “It’s great to be partnering with two companies who see the client service benefits as being just as important as the admin savings. The industry is gradually accepting that software can help drive client satisfaction and prolong client relationships.”
