Desso has become the first carpet tile manufacturer in the world to achieve Cradle to Cradle Gold level certification for a new carpet tile collection – The Gold Collection. The Gold certification is the culmination of seven years of hard work and innovation by Desso, inspired by the goal of transitioning to the circular economy, based on C2C principles.
To reach this golden milestone, Desso has had to fulfil a broad range of tough environmental and human health criteria, as defined within the Cradle to Cradle Certified Product Standard. This is a framework for innovation, which shows that ‘designing with purpose’ makes good business sense and at the same time positively impacts the environment and human health.
The new Gold Collection comes with an EcoBase backing as standard containing upcycled re-engineered calcium carbonate (chalk) from local drinking water companies, which is 100% recyclable in Desso’s own production process.
In addition, the collection contains ECONYL backing, a 100% regenerated nylon made from recovered waste materials including post-consumer yarn waste from DESSO's Refinity plant.
The Gold Collection doesn’t compromise when it comes to style. Four contemporary structured and tufted loop pile options are available: Fields Gold, Tweed Gold, Reclaim Ribs Gold and Sand Gold in six shades ranging from warm neutral tones to vibrant red.
All Desso carpet tiles are designed with ease of installation, maintenance and disassembly at front of mind. The tiles in the collection do not require the use of permanent bond adhesive, gripper or underlay, therefore simplifying the installation process and keeping both the cost and environmental impact to a minimum.

HANDCRAFT modulyss
Nature meets craft in the latest carpet tile collection from modulyss, Handcraft, which combines colour, shape and pattern to bring the outside in.
Comprising of four nature-inspired designs, each style in Handcraft translates nuances of subtle pattern and organic hues into carpet tiles that provide a practical and usable covering in commercial office spaces:
In a palette of ten colours inspired by rich variety and complex layers, Moss cobines the tranquil atmosphere of nature’s forests with the hustle and collaboration of modern working spaces.
Leaf marks the change of summer into autumn, with ten hues mimicking autumn shades and the beauty of shifting seasons.
The natural bends of rivers and the layered texture of natural bark is mimicked floorscape in Willow. In ten hues, this carpet tile brings a warm and welcoming motif to combat daily stresses.
In seven hued greys, Grind is a design inspired by unpaved roads and less-travelled paths carved through the landscape.
Moss, Leaf and Willow can be mixed and matched to your heart’s content, with Grind offering a purposeful juxtaposition.
As an associate member of the Healthy Seas programme, modulyss has designed the Handcraft collection using high-grade ECONYL nylon yarn derived from recovered fishing nets and other waste materials. Pairing this yarn with a recycled primary and secondary backing in back2back, the Handcraft collection not only celebrates nature, but is also a little kinder to it.
