Environmental Laboratory The Next Innovation in NOx Measurement
Swiss owned and operated ECO PHYSICS AG has always focused on taking the chemiluminiscence detection (CLD) of nitrogen oxides (NOx) to a whole other level. For this reason they have revamped the “GUI - Graphical User Interface”, an updated and redesigned state of the art man-machine interface that allows users to manage and monitor all aspects of operation for CLD measurement, the golden standard for nitrogen oxides detection.
While enhancing the user’s interface is just one part of the process, the essential upgrades come with the modernisation of all the different components. The interior components of the NOx analyser, such as the reaction chamber, the ozone generator or for instance the piping, also required an upgrade due to the typical obsolescence of basic electronic parts. For this reason the engineers at ECO PHYSICS have been working full steam on developing a solution that allows
a compact internal set-up with additional room for upgraded functions and features. This combines a modular system with a compact design, affordable service parts, best possible performance, service-friendliness and enhanced connectivity – all in one instrument.
This new concept is the kick-off to a new CLD product family that will allow ECO PHYSICS the highest level of operability fi tting for a wide range of applications for NOx measurement, and it will be structured according to the traditional ECO PHYSICS’ CLD series: The economical, reliable and precise CLD 60 series (1-Channel), the compact and highly fl exible CLD 800 series (1- or 2-Channels) and the top of the line, the researcher’s tool for NOx measurement with unmatched stability and extremely high sensitivity, the Supreme Line series.
More detailed technical information will be revealed soon. In the meantime you can take a look at the sneak peak of the new concept in the image displayed below. Stay tuned for more!

The MEDOR® Exp from Chromatotec® is aimed at online monitoring of sulphur compounds in hazardous zones. This analyser offers continuous analysis and full speciation of all naturally occurring sulphur compounds such as H2S, Methyl and Ethyl Mercaptan as well as odourant blends, from concentrations as low as 1 ppb.
The system uses proven auto-GC technology for odourisation, quality and safety applications in a wide variety of processes:
Odourisation application: The MEDOR Exp has been developed to monitor all available odourant and mercaptan blends available from all manufacturers. The system can be used to continually analyse and control odourant injection systems for natural and biogas sites.
Pipeline quality control: The analyser is widely used for sulphur content in natural gas storage and transport. Odourless gas can be analysed for natural sulphur species before and during transport or storage.
monitoring and control. With detection limits as low as 1 ppb H2 process monitoring.
Process monitoring – gas cleaning & desulphurisation: Sulphur removal processes, such as biogas treatment before injection into a pipeline network, requires careful S, the MEDOR Exp system offers users unparalleled security for
The quality and performance of the system has been recognised worldwide by Standard Organisations such as ISO and ASTM. The MEDOR Exp is supplied in a stainless steel purged cabinet. The system is certifi ed ATEX zone 1 and 2, group IIC T4 and CSA (Class 1 Division 2). for hazardous areas. The Exp cabinet is protected by continuous fl ow with an X or Z purge system certifi ed for zone 1 and zone 2 respectively. This purging system includes pressure regulator with a fl ow restrictor to control the inlet dilution. A fl ow controller is located at the valve outlet to validate the fl ow out of the cabinet. The cabinet is pressurised and diluted continuously.
IP 66 class allows the use of the unit in waterproof case environment and reduces the instrument air consumption volume needed for the continuous dilution. H2S, mercaptans and total sulphur can be analysed by MEDOR Exp with only nitrogen used for analysis and integrated calibration device.
One of the main advantages of MEDOR is that no additional hazardous area is created in the analyser as it could be the case with hydrogen or air presence and a fl ame. The worst case is taken into account to calculate the dilution fl ow to stay under the explosive condition.
If pressure inside the cabinet is not higher than the ambient pressure, the power is switched off by the X-purge system. For service there is a by-pass key to open the cabinet without pressure inside.
Due to these improvements, Chromatotec provides a full analytical solution for natural gas monitoring in hazardous area.

Fully Automated Mycotoxin Detection in the ppq-Range
LCTech’s robotic system FREESTYLE ThermELUTE enables with its fully automated sample preparation and direct connection to a HPLC system a sample throughput of more than 500 samples per week. The process is done without any manual working steps from extract to the ready chromatogram.
Manual sample preparation is tedious, laborious, and cost- intensive. In combination with a HPLC system the robotic system FREESTYLE ThermELUTE enables fully automated sample preparation and analysis of the mycotoxins Afl atoxin B1, B2, G1, G2, M1 as well as Ochratoxin A and Zearalenone in all regulated matrices.
When developing this system LCTech, specialist in the area of automated sample preparation, has followed the approach of miniaturizing the sample preparation process. Consequently the ThermELUTE is processing immunoaffi nity columns with a size of only 3.5 cm, which in turn considerably reduces the processing time as well as the amount of sample and solvent.
The clean-up step itself is performed via thermal denaturation. After being washed, the loaded immunoaffi nity column is heated whereby the bond between antibody and toxin is broken. The eluate of the immunoaffi nity column is directly and quantitatively eluted from the SMART column, as sample loop partial fi lling, into the injection port of the LC unit. After derivatisation of the afl atoxins B1 and G1 the eluate is analysed. At the same time the FREESTYLE ThermELUTE begins to process the next sample. With this parallelisation of the two steps, sample preparation and analysis, the sample throughput can be increased enormously.
Moreover, the sensitivity is also drastically increased, because losses through evaporation or adsorption effects are excluded, the complete eluate is injected, and the adjustment to the HPLC mobile phase is omitted. Without special measures or further processing steps the user is able to always measure within the lower ppt-range of the European limits (ppq-range for Afl atoxin M1), even for baby food and to process its application in conformity to EU regulations.

Pittcon Launches New Improved Mobile App with Web Version
For More Info, email: email:
The Pittcon marketing department is pleased to announce the release of its offi cial 2017 conference and exposition planning tool, Pittcon at a Glance, which is available in app version for mobile devices (Pittcon 2017) and optimised as a web version.
The app version, available for free download in the App Store for iOS and Android devices and the Kindle Fire, serves as a valuable resource tool before, during and after the event. It acts as an all-inclusive real-time show guide containing details on exhibiting companies, technical sessions, Conferee Networking sessions, short courses, events and local city information.
The Pittcon mobile conference app and web version were developed by Experient. Powerful features will help attendees to stay organized and easily network with each other. The most signifi cant change to this year’s app is that a registered conferee can log in and create an agenda that syncs across all of their devices. The app also offers the ability to directly access one’s registration account and purchase Short Courses .
Marketing Assistant Kim Palastro, who manages the mobile app implementation, commented, “We are very pleased with this year’s planning tool because of its diverse functionality and enhanced features. We strongly believe that this tool will help our conferees organize their time to get the most out of their Pittcon experience.”
Beth DeFrates, Experient product manager, commented, “It has been a pleasure working with Pittcon on the mobile app, Engage. The implementation process has been extremely smooth, and we are looking forward to having a successful deployment onsite.” She added, “We are excited that registration can be a part of the mobile app experience for Pittcon and offer registrants a better way to build their agendas and navigate the show.”
