34 Gas Detection Explosion Proof Area Hydrogen Monitor
H2scan’s HY-ALERTA 2600 Explosion Proof Area Hydrogen Monitor provides hydrogen-specifi c leak detection and measurement for hydrogen concentrations as low as 4000 ppm and can be scaled to any concentration up to 5% hydrogen by volume, a range representing 10% to 125% of hydrogen’s lower fl ammability limit. The monitor is designed for either ceiling or wall mount and has an RS422 capability that extends the interface from the Hydrogen Sensor Module to the Control Module to several hundred feet. H2scan’s hydrogen-specifi c sensor technology has no cross sensitivity to other combustible gases, thus eliminating false positive alarms and ensuring safety system reliability.

N.E.T. Srl introduces a new range of stainless steel fl ameproof enclosures housing gas sensors, dedicated to fi xed gas detectors in industrial applications.
While standard NET heads are certifi ed as component, the new NETC heads have been tested and full conformity certifi ed as complete instruments according to the ATEX and IECEx normatives.
NETC2: are completely sealed devices that can house a pellistor, electrochemical cell or NDIR sensor. Connection with the gas detector with ¾” or 1” thread and a M35 front thread that will allows easy fi t for accessories (splash guard, calibration cap and additional fi lter for GD and IP65 protection)
NETC3: these bigger heads can be opened to replace the sensor at the end of the sensor’s life. They can house any gas sensor for fl ammable, toxic and refrigerant gases. Connection with ¾”,1” or M20 thread and additional M46 front thread for accessories.
NETC3 Cyber Heads: same features as NEC3, in addition they also include a smart transmitter board which is calibrated at the requested fullscale and provides linear 4-20mA output, digital communication and fault indication. SIL2 approved (software and hardware).

The IR series of infrared gas detection sensors, from N.E.T., use the technique of NDIR (Non Dispersive Infrared) to monitor the presence of SF6 or refrigerants. This technique is based on the fact that the gas has a unique and well defi ned light absorption curve in the infrared spectrum that can be used to identify the specifi c gas. The gas concentration can be determined by using a suitable infrared source and by analysing the quantity of energy absorbed from the gas inside the optical path. The IREF-P sensor is equipped with electronics and fi rmware in order to provide an output that is linearised and temperature compensated. The output is analogue voltage type [0.4 V—2 V] dc (other voltages are available on request). IREF P is now SIL2 approved. The main features are: analogue voltage standard output, incorporated signal, linearisation and temperature compensation suited for instrument manufacturers without any specialist knowledge in IR technology, standard sensor size 32 mm, fast response, solid, rugged construction, wide operating temperature and humidity range (-20°C +60°C) and new optics “Variable Geometry”.

As a part of gas detection instruments, infrared detectors are dedicated to the wellbeing of humans and environment. Multi channel detectors with beam splitters by InfraTec allow for very precise gas analysis, particular in gas detection technology. This ability makes them a perfect fi t for measurement or testing tasks in safety technology. Actually, their measuring performance characteristics experienced crucial improvements over recent years. That’s why they can be found utilised not only in stationary and mobile analysing instruments in industrial environments with adverse ambient conditions but also in the fi eld of process instrumentation supporting quality assurance and in hospitals in measuring instruments for anesthesia monitoring.
Unlike conventional multi channel detectors, beam splitter detectors only have one single aperture opening. Thus, major parts of the incoming radiation impinge vertical to the pyroelectric crystal, which allows for very accurate measurement. Hence, a gas cell with an effective diameter of just 2.5mm is suffi cient. Apart from an accelerated exchange of gas, this results in very low dead volumes of the measuring system. Measurement devices equipped with the detector can be correspondingly smaller. The permanently stable signal ratio between the individual channels ensures a high degree of measurement accuracy. This is because mechanical expansions in the optical system of the measurement device, ageing effects or any possible contamination in these detectors are already accounted for before the beam is split and thus affect all channels equally.
The split of incoming radiation beams into various parts takes place inside the detector. The beam splitters used by InfraTec in multi channel detectors are solely refl ection beam splitters. That means they refl ect the incoming radiation in various directions respectively. These optical components consist of highly refl ective gold plated microstructures. The radiation entering through the aperture opening of the detector is split into several radiation beams of equal intensity but in different, predefi ned directions within the detector based on the architecture of the innovative microstructure inside. Each of the beams impinges on a corresponding pyroelectric sensor element with an upstream optical fi lter. The microstructures vary according to the detector type. In four channel detectors these resemble four-sided micro-pyramids, whereas in dual channel detectors these are V-shaped grooves.
