Next Generation Small- Spot ED-XRF Analysers For Faster Elemental Analysis of Precious Metals Introduced
Spectro Analytical Instruments today announced the introduction of a new generation of Spectro MIDEX small-
spot energy-dispersive x-ray fluorescence (ED-XRF) analysers for faster and more accurate elemental analysis of precious metals.
The Spectro MIDEX analyser represents a smart alternative to fire assay testing that not only approaches fire assay in terms of precision, but greatly surpasses it in both speed and ease of use.
The Spectro MIDEX analyser incorporates the latest developments in ED-XRF detector technology, allowing improved precision. The innovations help make it one of the most-advanced midrange laboratory XRF benchtop analysers available for precious metals testing. The new instrument delivers both an increased accuracy of elemental analysis - critical in the refining of precious metals - and substantially accelerated testing times for higher sample throughput. It is easier to operate and features helpful software and the easy transfer of results into a laboratory network.
Specific features and benefits of the new Spectro MIDEX analyser include: high precision and accuracy for a wide range of concentration levels; excellent ease of use with intuitive software supplying all relevant information on a single screen. An integrated video system aids in accurate positioning of the sample and also can help document the testing spot; competitive, cost-effective analysis for precious metals testing offices, assay labs, hallmarking centres, and refinery labs; a high-resolution silicon drift detector (SDD) that makes determination of trace and minor elements even more accurate. Adding to that precision is a new ultrahigh count rate. With the same measurement time as prior models, it delivers up to 4X higher intensities; greatly improved speeds on previous 120 second analysis times. With the same accuracy as earlier models, the new, faster scans may take only 30 seconds; a compact design with a spacious measurement chamber that handles samples from tiny jewellery pins to large silver pieces. Samples are placed onto a laboratory jack, and a turn of a knob moves it precisely into optimum measurement position; optional AMECARE M2M (machine-to-machine) support extends self-diagnostic functions with proactive alerts, backed by direct monitoring via a remote Spectro service expert’s PC.
39789pr@reply-direct.com New Silver TERS Probes Offered
Horiba Scientific have announced new Silver AFM-TERS probes to provide the highest resolution for NanoRaman Systems.
The TERS probes have been the primary limiting factor that prevented NanoRaman from becoming a routine and analytical characterisation technique. Today, Horiba completes their TERS Probes line with new Silver coated AFM-TERS probes that offer x10 more Raman amplification than the Au coated AFM- TERS probes.
The Horiba TERS probes are guaranteed to produce Raman signal enhancement of 633/638 nm on a reliable test sample crafted to easily show this performance. 9 out of 10 of our probes are guaranteed to reach > 40 times improved contrast between the near-field and far-field Raman intensities, leading to an enhancement factor (EF) up to 106. The TERS probes allow all modes of TERS operation: Top, side and bottom optical access. Made of a multilayer coating on AFM cantilevers with a final protective layer, the TERS probes are delivered in a protective package to maximise shelf life.
Even more than the amplification of the signal, the real proof of TERS is its nano-resolution. The combination of Horiba’s NanoRaman systems with the new Silver AFM-TERS probes provides the highest enhancement to address exciting nano scientific discovery down to 15 nm resolution and below.
Horiba’s new Silver TERS Probes are the result of extensive development and enables them to guarantee their performance. The service team assists and supports customers during start-up phase of your AFM/ Raman system on site. The efficient operation of the TERS proven NanoRaman systems requires a fine tuning of parameters. Besides a detailed product training, also a complete TERS procedure to obtain TERS imaging is provided.
