HAPPY DAYS: Housing Minister Kevin Stewart with Helen McBride, right, and GHA tenant Board member Kate Willis

Have your say on GHA rents

WE would like to hear your views on our proposals for next year’s rents. We aim to keep our rents as

affordable as we can while still improving our homes and communities and delivering services you have told us you want. We’re consulting on a proposed

‘Perfect’ new home A

GHA tenant who’s lived in her neighbourhood for almost 40 years has seen it transformed by new

homes.

Helen McBride moved into her new home in Crossbank Crescent – one of the 100 new homes GHA has built in North Toryglen – at the end of last year. Helen, 55, who moved from nearby

Crossbank Avenue, said she always loved living in the area – and that her new home is ideal.

Housing Minister Kevin Stewart joined Helen to welcome her into her new home. Helen, 55, said: “My new home is perfect. It’s lovely and warm and I’m paying less on my bills – and it’s great having

a back garden too. “I’ve always loved living in North

Toryglen. I feel very comfortable that I know my neighbours already. “It’s a real close-knit community and the homes have made a real difference to the whole area.” Housing Minister Kevin Stewart said: “The completion of this project is a huge milestone in the regeneration of North Toryglen.” GHA is currently demolishing two blocks at 99 and 111 Prospecthill Circus, North Toryglen, using a long-reach machine. The demolition should be complete by Christmas, with the site cleared by early 2017.

City communities are transformed

AS WELL as the 100 new homes in Toryglen, GHA is transforming communities across Glasgow. In Castlemilk, 130 new homes

are being built in Dougrie Drive, and another 105 are taking shape in Brand Street, Cessnock. Meanwhile, 100 new homes

in Royston are well under way, with 54 in Lincoln Avenue,

Knightswood, and 47 in Pollokshaws, also in progress. In the past year, tenants all

over the city have enjoyed moving into modern, spacious, energy-efficient new homes. They’ve included 141 new homes in Sighthill, 157 homes in Barmulloch and 116 in Scotstoun.

Helen thrilled at how North Toryglen has changed

rent and service charge increase of 2.4%. Remember, this is a consultation so we want to hear your views. You will have received a copy of our rent consultation and a feedback form. The closing date is 27 January 2017. Call 0800 011 3816 (Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm) or email consultation@ wheatley-group.com

Free calendar inside the Key

FREE inside this issue of the Key is your 2017 calendar. We’ve found tenants like these

pocket-sized calendars because you can keep them in your wallet. The handy smaller sized

calendar means you can easily check when your rent is due, among other things. Make sure you pay before the payment due date – and remember it may fall on a holiday.

Take care over staff at home

WE’RE asking tenants to consider the health and safety of staff who may be working in your home. If one of our staff is visiting

you at home or one of our tradespeople is carrying out a repair, we’d ask you not to smoke – and to keep any pets under control. GHA’s Lorraine Starrs said:

“We appreciate tenants being considerate towards our staff by not smoking and controlling pets. “It’s a small thing – but it makes

sure we look after everyone’s health and safety.”
