12 News YOUR Dear the Key
I’m 74 and disabled. The council came out to cut my grass and left it in a mess. I tried phoning them but couldn’t get through. You are my last hope.
Andy Stadalius, Barfillan Drive
We asked the council to come back out, Andy, and your grass has now been sorted.
Dear the Key I want to say a big thank-you to housing officer Jennifer Shaw in the Mosspark office for helping me get a tree cut back. It was done within hours of the phone call. Thanks again. S Coulter, Alyth Gardens We’ve passed on your thanks.
Dear the Key I recently moved into the new homes at Kingsway Court. A manhole cover on Dumbarton Road has come loose and there is noise when traffic runs over it. It’s so unbearable at night I’ve taken to sleeping in my hallway to escape the constant BOOM BANG. I’ve phoned the environmental health and the council roads department several times only to be fobbed off.
John Diamond, Kingsway Court
Hello John. We’ve raised this with the city council on your behalf. Unfortunately they couldn’t give us a timescale on how quickly it will be looked at. We’ll keep trying. Your housing officer will keep you updated.
Dear the Key Work has been carried out

on my joint pathway since September. The turf had been laid but not the slabs. Can you please find out why this small job has taken so long to complete?
Lilian McFarlane, Fleurs Avenue
Hello Lilian. This work was always going to take several weeks, but it did run on slightly, so apologies for that. It’s been done now.
Dear the Key Can you please tell me if there are any plans to upgrade or replace the storage heating systems and water storage boilers currently installed in the Blairdardie multi-storey flats? At present it is a very poor heating method and it is a costly system to run. Also can you confirm that the present 3 meter electricity method run by Scottish Power in these flats cannot be changed to a cheaper electric supplier?
John MacDonald, Blairdardie
Hi John. We’ve no plans to upgrade the heating in your block at the moment, I’m afraid. As you know, we can’t put gas heating systems in multi-storeys. But we’ve arranged an interview with a fuel advisor for you. They will help make sure you’re on the cheapest tariff and help cut your bills. Talk to the advisor about changing your supplier too. Thanks.
Dear the Key Can you please check the aerial on top of our block is working? For the past while I can’t seem to use my mobile round the house. Carol Mein, Birness Drive
STAR PHOTO
SOME more lovely entries for our Star Photo competition. Megan Galloway from Sandyhills, took this photo of the
Tron church steeple at Glasgow Cross. Hew Inglis, from Scotstoun, took this pic of Helensburgh seaside.
C Desport, from the south side, took this photo of a stunning red sky in the early morning from her garden. Continuing the sky theme, Paul Tomlin, from Germiston, took this image of the Red Road flats shortly before they were demolished. But this week’s winner is Kenny Hegney, from Scotstoun, who took this pic, above, outside the concierge office at Kingsway Court. Congratulations to Kenny, who wins £20 worth of vouchers. Send us pics of your family, your pet, your favourite holiday snap, anything, and we’ll print the best one. You can win £20 worth of vouchers - and more than 40,000 tenants will see your work.
