Upton Cross to Upton Country Park Cycleway
After representations from local
residents and councillors, it was decided that Phase 2a of the scheme would be postponed until after the improvement works on the A35/Upton By-Pass have been completed. Fortunately, a way was found to carry over the funding from the last fi nancial year to 2017/18.
The new construction programme will be as follows: • Monday 22nd May for nine weeks • Works to cease for school summer holiday period • Works restart Monday 4th September • Scheme 2a to be completed December 2017
Due to the nature of the works, two-way temporary traffi c signals will be in place between 9am-4pm, Monday to Friday. Some Saturday working (9am-1pm) may also be needed.
Phase 2a has been extended and will cover the area between Factory Road and the entrance to Upton Park Farm.
It is hoped that next year Phase 2b will extend this to link up with Upton Country Park, the Castleman Trailway and Holes Bay cycle routes, overall representing a signifi cant new asset for our town. Further information is available online at:

It is hoped that cyclists will avail themselves of the opportunity to use the existing and new facilities, rather than cycle in the road – for their own safety and out of concern for other road users.

New Assistant Groundsman
We are pleased to introduce Jordan, who will be working alongside the existing grounds maintenance team. He has previously worked for the Borough of Poole, and recently achieved his horticultural qualifi cation from Kingston Maurward. You may already have seen him around the town as he has been working via an agency for us on a part-time basis for the past three months, but now comes to us on a full time employed basis.
