YOUTH ATHLETICS
The philosophy of the Belvidere Park District’s youth sports programs is to provide quality
opportunities and experiences in athletics. The enhancement and development of positive attitudes, self-esteem, and basic skills of sports are taught. We ask all coaches and parents to be positive role models not only for their child but all participants. A new policy has taken effect with our youth sports programs: Coaches will automatically have their own child on their team and can request two additional children to play on their team; all other children will be randomly placed on teams by park district staff.
Athletics – Coaching Reward Yourself: Volunteer to coach Youth Athletics! Coaches
are needed for all youth athletic programs. Take part in one of the most beneficial and rewarding parts of youth athletics. Be a part of a young athletes LIFE. Coaching is not only a great experience for a child, but also for the coach. If you are interested in coaching, please contact Patrick Kloss at 547-5711 ext. 31.
Pitch, Hit & Run (Ages 7-14) Pitch Hit & Run is the official Skills competition of MLB. Tis program is designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to compete, FREE of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball/soſtball skills. Boys and girls are divided into four age divisions: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, and have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including team Championships at Major League ballparks and the National Finals at the 2017 MLB All Star Game. Te individual Pitching, Hitting and Running Champions, along with the All-Around Champion in each division age group at the Local Competition will be awarded and advance to the Sectional Level of Competition. All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and have their parent or guardian fill out a registration/waiver

MLB Jr. Home Run Derby (12U & 14U) New Tis Summer! Te Junior Home Run Derby provides youngsters 14 and under an opportunity to participate in an exciting, free, home run derby competition. All of the local events are individually scored and the winners of local and regional contests will ultimately compete in the National Final during 2017 Major League Baseball All-Star Week in Miami. All participants must provide a copy of a valid birth document
