Sibford’s production of Cabaret just before half term was an outstanding success ... with all three performances selling out before the first ‘curtain up’.

Set in 1930s Berlin as the Nazis were rising to power, the Sibford production, directed by Head of Drama Neil Madden, combined the Kander and Ebb musical with excerpts from the Diary of Anne Frank and scenes from the GCSE Drama text, Arbeit Macht Frei.

With dances specially choreographed by professional West End choreographer and co- founder of Sleek Technique, Flik Swan, and coaching by RSC actor Simon Trinder, the show was spellbinding from start to finish. ‘Great performance’, ‘breathtaking’, ‘brilliant’ and ‘incredible’ were just some of the comments received.

Neil Madden added: “I was extremely proud of all the performers and would like to thank everyone involved. The dedication and concentration shown by the cast during rehearsals was fantastic and certainly paid dividends.”

Amy gave an outstanding performance as Sally Bowles while Matt’s Emcee was both funny and disturbing. Paige brought tears to the eyes with her portrayal of Anne Frank and there were touching performances by Ai as Fraulein Schneider and Finn as Herr Schultz. Special mention must also go to Annie and Althea for their breathtaking performances on the trapeze.
