Swimming success
Congratulations to Sibford Junior Swimming Team who won both events in the ESSA Oxfordshire Primary School Team Relay Championships which took place at the Dragon School in Oxford on Friday 17 March.
The team will now go forward to represent Oxfordshire in the Regional Finals which will take place in May at the Guildford Spectrum.
Eggciting relay!
Marathon kids on the run
In January the Junior School signed up to Marathon Kids, an exciting project from children’s charity Kids Run Free. Marathon Kids aims to give school children the opportunity to complete a marathon throughout the course of the school year by running laps of a course once or twice a week during their lunch break.
The concept is based on personal achievement rather than competition and thereby encourages all children, regardless of fitness ability, to take part by running as much or as little as they choose.
Junior School pupils travelled to Kitebrook School in Moreton-in- Marsh to compete in The Great Egg Race.
The race saw children competing in teams of three running a relay … carrying a raw egg to pass on instead of a baton!
On tour
The weekend of 17 - 19 March was tour weekend in the Sibford sports calendar. Girls from Years 7 - 10 headed north west to Condover Hall in Shropshire for a weekend of netball and outdoor adventurous activities. Meanwhile boys from Years 7 – 9 travelled to Liddington near Swindon for a weekend of football and fun.

Marathon Maker Alex Walker (pictured below) from Marathon Kids visited Sibford to launch the project. He was assisted by some of our Year 6 pupils who have signed up as North Oxfordshire School Sport Partnership Young Leaders and are helping to monitor the progress of their fellow pupils.
