In accordance with the policy of the London Borough of Bromley, the School admits every September, children whose fifth birthday falls between 1st September to 31st August of the following year. Children remain until the year in which they will be eleven when the secondary transfer procedure begins.
Criteria for entry are having a sibling currently attending the school, followed by proximity to the school (the distance from home to school).
Applications for places at Stewart Fleming Primary School will need to be applied for on Bromley’s Common Application Form (CAF), which is available from Bromley Civic Centre, local primary schools or on-line at
www.bromley.gov.uk. Full details can be found in Admissions to Primary School in Bromley booklet, which is also available at local primary schools and from Bromley Civic centre.
For more information about our admissions policy, please see the school website.
Admission of pupils with disabilities The school is able to admit pupils with physical disabilities, as the school site is on one level, with ramped access to the main school and to the playground. There is a disabled toilet, suitable for wheelchair access in the main reception area and another within the body of the school.
Prior to a pupil being admitted to the school, we are keen to discuss their needs with the parents/carers and any other involved services to ensure that the school is the most appropriate place for their education and welfare. Where a child has a statement of special educational need, we will ensure that the recommendations are provided.
Transfer to another school The London Borough of Bromley now processes all admissions. If you and your child are considering transferring to another primary school when on roll at Stewart Fleming, you will need to contact the Borough. You will need to complete a “Primary In-Year application” form. The application process is then dealt with by the Borough directly.
Transfer to Secondary Schools Parents/carers of Year 6 children are provided with a Secondary Transfer booklet by the London Borough of Bromley. This gives advice on applying to secondary schools. At present, all the responsibility and arrangements for this lie with parents/ carers.
