Mid-Tex QHA’s January 24 meeting resulted


in the decision for the 2017 Open Buckle Show se- ries to offer 54 classes with 4 divisions, with Eng- lish, western, and ranch classes. High-point prizes will be awarded at each show in each division. Show dates are April 29 (double-judged) and June 10, at Bell County Expo in Belton, and stalls and RV slots are available. The America QH Hall of Fame, Amarillo,


TX, unveiled the new exhibit, “Nacidos Charros: Born Charro”, on January 27. It will remain on dis- play until July 29 and celebrates the history and cul- ture surrounding the sport. It starts with the history of the charro, moves on to explore the horses, tack, clothing, and music surrounding the sport, and will transport guests to a different place full of color, music, and a rich heritage centered around the horse. The NCHA announced January 27 that it had


agreed with Chuck Smith for him to continue to serve as the Association’s Interim Executive Direc- tor through the remainder of his term as president and then to assume full-time Executive Director du- ties after the NCHA Convention in June .


NM State University regents voted on January
