Arkansas Arabian HC’s awards banquet,
held January 14 at Mike’s Place in Conway, cele- brated the 2016 HP one-day show series champions. They included Marg Woodruff and KN Rio Tuff (Barbara Ernest Overall-HP, Eng-Pl-Adult, & WP- Open), Emily Sanders and Beau (WP-WJ-11-18, Eng-Pl-WT-11-18, & 11-18-Overall), Aaron Van Landingham and Trinity (Halter-Arabian), Audrey Denson and Dark Eyed Cream Puff ((Non-Arabian Halter), Audrey Denson and Major (10&U-Overall), Chloe Lindow and Elegant Dancer V (WP-WJ- 10&u), Patricia Jones and Tiaras Tornado Twist (Halter-Half-Arabian), Novell Tarini and Elegant Dancer V (Eng-Pl-WT-10&u), Mike Faulkner and Shasta (Overall-Non-Arabian), and Lorita Page and Star of Madrid (Adult-Overall, WP-WJ-Adult, Eng- Pl-WT). Denise Harmon was recognized with the Jane Bess Volunteer Award).
Louisiana Equine Council’s annual meeting
was held January 14, at Crowley’s Rice Arena. After taking care of some business and elections, the event was ranch-themed. 4-H youth competed in ranch sorting and ranch roping, and adults competed in ranch roping and ranch riding. Mr. Bryan Boudreaux conducted a fascinating working cow dog demon- stration.
LA Stock Horse Assoc kicked off the 2017
season with a January 14 show in DeRidder. Weather was great with matching competition. High-point winners were Layne DuBose (Op/Han- nah) Bryan Cook (NP/Royally Smart Ernie), Scott Long (Jr-Horse/Style), Johnny Steib (Am/ Cat Call Smooth), Whitney Moody (Novice/Pocos TNT),

Palomino HP Champions were Good Diverse A Te (Open & Jr Horse/Sue Bercher), Seek The Deck (WT-5-9/Kenzie Duggin), Cool Skippin Cow- boy (13&U/Kat Morris),The Lady’s A Legend (14- 18/Alexis McCollough), Watch Bud Shine (Nov-Am/Janine Hess), Skippin In The Weeds (Am/Celeste Berger), and Indescribable Magic (Se- lect Am/Robyn Zumar). All-Breed HP Champions included Dually Invested (18&U/Miley Miller) and Hes Got It All (19&O/Shellie Dalluge). In Chal- lenged Rider WT Classes, Patrick McKenzie was HP Champion and Abigail Smith was Reserve.

nounced 2016 scholarship winners on January 20. Reagan Stephens, Weatherford, was among the var- sity winners, and Kalena Reynolds, Dennis, was jun- ior varsity youth of the year recipient.
Capitol Area QHA kicked off 2017 with an
amazing show at Austin’s Travis County Expo on January 21.
