The recent talk of the town has to be the fact that we had snow here. Even though it had been predicted I don’t think anyone actually believed it would happen. For the children attending local schools it was great to hear that the teachers insisted on downing tools to play outside in weather that many of the children have never experienced in their lifetime and possibly never
will again for many years. For us expats it was this kind of weather that we moved to Spain to get away from, however the novelty was, in my opinion, a fascinating change, as
brief as it was. I feel as though I have gone back to school, as the amount of homework /exams my little angel has on a regular basis usually requires some help from me. I do try to assist as much as I can but if anyone has found the knack of doing long divisions the Spanish way, then I would be eternally grateful for some help! I have learned things about the EU and Spanish history that I had no clue about, and it baffles me the things 11 year old children have to take in these days. Her older brother cannot believe that at her age she is learning about Franco and his ways. Even during secondary education he did not have to do that ….is the school curriculum getting harder each year? At this rate children will be doing university studies at the age of 14.
