Sweeney Todd

Paramount Theatre & Epic Buffet Aurora, IL

It’s just another day in 19th Century England, and Benjamin Barker has returned home. It’s been 15 years since the once fresh-faced barber has seen his family. He was unjustly sentenced to prison on trumped up charges by the corrupt Judge Turpin, who had his leering eyes on the barber’s beautiful wife. Upon his arrival to the pie shop, where he once lived above with his family, his old friend & confidant Mrs. Lovett unravels the events of the past decade, including the seduction of his wife by the Judge that led her to take her own life. To sharpen the pain of his loss, she breaks the news that the Judge adopted his daughter and is raising her as his own. Barker vows revenge for these atrocities and turns to the tools and skills with which he’ll exact his plan: a razor and a barber chair. While the ensuing events are unfortunate for some, Mrs. Lovett, her struggling pie shop and her customers, quickly prosper from the body count. Based on a Victorian Penny Dreadful, this Stephen Sondheim masterpiece has been nominated for Tony Awards in 3 different decades. Prior to the performance, we’ll have a buffet lunch at Epic Buffet inside Hollywood Casino. Although this is not a gambling trip, you can choose to finish lunch quickly for time to play slots! Fee includes transportation, buffet lunch and performance.

converge in this dazzling, theatrical

reimagining of Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s story, “The Dream of a Ridiculous Man.” Written in 1877, it chronicles the experiences of a man who decides that there is nothing of any value in the world, and is therefore determined to commit suicide. A chance encounter with a young girl, however, begins the man on a journey that re-instills a love for his fellow man. Musical masterpieces of Dmitri Shostakovich, Osvaldo Golijov, and Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood are highlights in this
