Shop & Play: Rivers Casino & Fashion Outlets of Chicago Des Plaines & Rosemont, IL


You’ll have 4 hours to choose if you want to spend all your time at one of the venues or spend a couple hours at each! The Fashion Outlets of Chicago has over 150 outlet stores, a very nice food court, and public art scattered throughout, this indoor mall is a fun place to visit whether you are shopping or just looking. Rivers Casino is just down the road, and with over 1,000 slots and almost 50 table games, you’re sure to have a good time. Our bus will drop off at the outlet mall and at the casino – spend 2 hours at each place or 4 hours at just one. Fee includes bus transportation.

Macy's Flower Show & Mainbocher Chicago, IL


Now an annual affair, Macy’s fabulous show features a huge assortment of flowers and exotic topiaries from all over the world, arranged by renowned horticulturalists


to create urban sanctuaries for


flowers and visitors alike. After the show, we will have lunch in the famous Walnut Room, where you will have your choice of 1) Mrs. Hering's 1890 original chicken pot pie, peach nest salad (famous chicken salad in a nest of shoestring potatoes with peaches, grapes, strawberries and trio of breads), or 2) Portobello burger (marinated portobello, caramelized onions, roasted red pepper, smoked gouda, green onions, roasted garlic aioli on a potato bun), all served with salad, Frango mint pie, and beverage.


Next we will go to the Chicago History Museum to see theMaking Mainbocher: The First American Couturier Chicago-born


Mainbocher established a fashion


empire serving royalty, Broadway icons, and the social elite. Raised in a modest home on the city’s west side, he leveraged his passion for the arts to become a tastemaker of 20th century style. Highly regarded for his impeccable construction and understated elegance, Mainbocher balanced his elite brand by designing uniforms for the US Navy WAVES, the Girl Scouts of the USA, and Chicago’s Passavant Hospital. Featuring nearly thirty garments, as well as fashion illustrations and photography, this exhibition explores the life and legacy of a remarkable man and his journey to become the first American couturier. There will be some time allowed to view some of the other exhibits within the museum. Fee includes transportation, flower show, luncheon and museum.
