Illinois Holocaust Museum & Bahá’í Temple Skokie & Wilmette, IL


History reveals the best and the worst of humankind. April 24 is Holocaust Remembrance Day and in its honor we will visit the Illinois Holocaust Museum. Its mission is perhaps best expressed in its founding principle: Remember the Past, Transform the Future. Although it represents one of the darkest periods in history, the strength of the human spirit prevails and inspiration is found throughout. A docent will lead us on an overview tour of the museum, followed by an interactive survivor experience, the first of its kind in the world. Filmed survivors tell their stories and answer our questions, ensuring the Holocaust story is never forgotten. The Bahá’í House of Worship for North America is a symbol of the oneness of humanity. This sacred space, located in Wilmette, Illinois, is for all people to commune with God. It elevates the spirit and is a magnet for the hearts of all who long for peace and harmony. We will have a guided tour of the temple and welcome center. Between our visits, we will have lunch at The Bagel Restaurant, a traditional Jewish Deli. There you will have your choice of sandwich from their vast menu, served with a potato pancake and beverage. Fee includes transportation, admissions and lunch.

Wayne Coliseum, where you will find a HUGE assortment of retired and overstock patterns and products at discount prices. We’ll receive VIP treatment with special entry tickets entitling us to bypass the line, have a separate entrance and check- out area, and a lovely hospitality room to relax in. Bring your gift list to take advantage of this great sale. After the sale, we will head to the Essenhaus Inn for the night. Amish hospitality is found throughout, from the inviting lobby to the quilts on the beds. Dinner on your own is available at The Essenhaus.


The following day, we’ll visit a chime making shop, and have lunch in a private Amish home. We’ll have a full Thresher’s Meal, and even have the opportunity to make our own cinnamon rolls to bring home! We will also tour the Annie Oakley Perfumery, the only perfumery in the United States. Enjoy a rare chance to view a perfume studio and experience a world collection of natural and organic fragrances. Learn how fragrances are created, blended and bottled.
